Empty Nest Syndrome

on Jun7 2008Sad News :o(
on Jun5 2008It’s been an awful week… both kittens died suddenly.
The little Grey one passed on Monday night. It suddenly started losing weight and I had been bottle feeding it. But it was too late. The vet said there’s an awful new virus that wipes out litters… not much we could have done.
Then yesterday, Thursday afternoon, the white one passed too in spite of all efforts to save it… Tube feedings and lots of love and body warmth. It all happens so fast… One day they’re healthy and then the next day they’re dying. it’s awful to be so helpless.
My heart aches.
The House Sprocket Built
on May26 2008Miss Sprocket’s Little Rockets
on May22 2008Wow… my cat Miss Sprocket had babies today!
She’s such a small cat and we’ve been worried about how her pregancy and the delivery would go. I mean you can only fit so much in there right? Most cats will have a litter of eight or more and she was just too small for that.
Fortunately, there were only two in there and they are healthy and super-cute… measuring maybe four inches long.
Born on this day… May 21st.
April Fools
on Apr1 2008Finally the water has broken through and the lake isn’t frozen. Such a beautiful sight after such a darn long winter.
Spring is here!!!

But wait… it’s still cold enough that when the water splashes up against the breakwall, it comes down as ice pellets forming “snow dunes” along the dock.
LOL… No more snow!!!
Postcard for Grandpa
on Mar27 2008Look What the Easter Bunny Brought!
on Mar24 2008Just around the Easter weekend, we had a surprise guest show up on our door…

And he hasn’t left since.
We believe he might be the brother of our little angel Jack who we rescued last winter… Note tongue sticking out.
Jack was killed by a car just before Christmas :o( and his brother Tommy has already wormed his way into all of our hearts.
What Happened to Spring?
on Mar7 2008I am not a winter person and spring seems to have forgotten us this year. Usually March 1st marks the changing point in the weather.

Not this year… Brrrr!
Being on Lake Erie, the two winter months feel like a frozen eternity. The lake becomes a frozen tundra. As you can see from my abandoned blog, I’ve been hibernating.
So…
What happened to spring?
